"I met a postpartum doula twelve years ago when I was pregnant with my first child. This woman described the services available through a postpartum doula, including infant and mother care, lactation support, household management and assistance in navigating this life changing transition into parenthood. I was overjoyed to hear of this loving vocation. I constantly marvel at the incredible impact of postpartum care. All parents deserve to have supportive and clear assistance in moving through the initiation of becoming a parent. Having honest, gentle and compassionate care makes a huge difference in the way the family experiences the time following the baby's birth. I so appreciate working with families as they come to know their new lives, their new children, and a new sense of themselves. Postpartum care invites parents to consciously care for themselves and their babies' right from the beginning! I am grateful to be a voice that reminds them to believe in themselves and keep their eyes on the light at the end of the tunnel. What a joy to be part of the beginning of their life as a family!
